    Wet feet and big grins!
Offering the 10km Long Beach – Seymour Slip and out to the iconic Seymour Tower and back again, or the shorter 6km Long Beach – Seymour Slip (not the Tower) and back.
***PRE-EVENT BOOKING ESSENTIAL *** there will be NO on the day registrations.
We’re delighted to announce that this event is “Proudly sponsored by SLOMANS”

Meanwhile, follow this event for updates!
    CHECK IN: from 12:30pm
    SAFETY BRIEFING 1:45pm
    RACE START 2:00pm
Fancy a 10km Seymour Sprint or 6km Seymour Six? This run takes place along Jersey’s South East coast, out to the historic Seymour Tower and back to the start, racing the tide across this beautiful Ramsar site.
The 10km trail run, from Long Beach – Seymour Slip – Seymour Tower and back, is across the inter-tidal zone, so be prepared to get WET and run over sandy and rocky surfaces.
The 6km run is from Long Beach – Seymour Slip and back (not the tower).
The run takes place over beach and inter-tidal terrain and shoes and clothing will be exposed to sea water and part of the course may be under water. You are expected to use common sense, follow the marshalled route and avoid running over rocky outcrops and through deeper water.
This event will be physically challenging – you will be running 10km across uneven coastal/ inter-tidal terrain, through the gulleys. Due to the risk of tidal cut-off, there is a time limit for reaching the turn-around point (40mins – 5km).
YOU MUST BE ABLE TO RUN THE 10KM DISTANCE WITHIN THE 90 MINUTE TIME SET.
You are expected to be in good health and not have any medical conditions which might prevent you doing that.
In the event of poor weather making the event unsafe, Philip’s Footprints reserves the right to postpone or cancel the event.
In the current climate we have chosen not to provide refreshments, but hot and cold drinks and food can be bought from Rhona’s just down the beach.

  • PEOPLE! POWER! PROTEST!
    All day
    2022.04.05-2022.12.31

An exhibition that explores how the right to protest has shaped and influenced the Island that we know today.

‘People! Power! Protest!’ explores the story of protest in Jersey, from the Corn Riots of 1769 to the Black Lives Matter movement of 2020.

Jersey may be small but Islanders have made their voices heard loud and clear over the years. Jersey has a fascinating history of protest in the Island and the theme of the exhibition coincides with the 250th anniversary of the Code of Laws that was introduced in response to the Corn Riots.

The exhibition explores how the right to protest has shaped and influenced the Island that we know today, from historic protests, such as the Corn Riots, to more recent protests such as Extinction Rebellion and Black Lives Matter.

Among the items on display is the official 18th century court records showing the redacted demands of the Corn Riots protestors, and the petition signed by thousands of people to try and save Queen’s Valley from being flooded in the 1980s. There are also the banners and placards from other protests over the years and photographs of significant post-war campaigns and demonstrations.

As you enter the exhibition ‘People! Power! Protest!’, you’ll see a  stunning graffiti-style entrance wall by designer James Carter, of Midnight Industries. Celebrated local artist Ian Rolls has also created a new version of his iconic climate stripes mural in the environmental protest section of the exhibition.   Visitors can to listen to stories of protest and share their own memories of their involvement in campaigns and demonstrations over the years.

  • Exhibition at Le Moulin de Quétivel: Until You Became Me
    10:00 am-4:00 pm
    2022.04.10

Jersey’s only working watermill is brought to life with a new exhibition exploring how water connects us to each other and the environment.

Artists Karen Le Roy Harris and Miriam Sedacca transform Le Moulin de Quétivel into an immersive space using sculpture, installation, film and performance to expose the vital, yet fragile, relationship we all have with water.

Having previously toured to Stroud and London, it was a natural progression for Karen, who is from Jersey, to bring Until You Became Me to Le Moulin de Quétivel, where water power has been harnessed for milling wheat for generations.

Suitable for all ages, the exhibition includes a soundscape by Heather Ryall marrying the sounds from the natural environment with sounds from domestic life; a new film, partially filmed underwater in Jersey, addressing the relationship Islanders have with the ocean and fresh water; and an installation of ceramic anthropomorphic forms presented alongside found objects from rivers.

  • PEOPLE! POWER! PROTEST!
    All day
    2022.04.12-2022.12.31

    2022.04.12

  • Easter Saturday Duck Race
    All day
    2022.04.16

Every year up to 1,300 yellow ducks, which have been numbered individually on their bottoms, are launched into the stream at Le Perquage at Sandybrook.

They ‘race’ downstream to the finishing point and the first three ducks across the line win a prize.

The event, which is generously sponsored by Romerils, includes plenty of other activities for families to enjoy along the Perquage, including charity stalls, a bouncy castle and face-painting.

Dr Helen Miles, Vice Chairman of Autism Jersey, said: “Every year the duck race is a great, fun event with lots of families coming down to take part. We are grateful to Romerils for their support.”

  • Exhibition at Le Moulin de Quétivel: Until You Became Me
    10:00 am-4:00 pm
    2022.04.16

  • PEOPLE! POWER! PROTEST!
    All day
    2022.04.19-2022.12.31

Artists Chantal Venton and Peter John Thomson, both tutors of art at Highlands College, present an eclectic collection of ceramics, print, painting and textiles, that reference themes such as landscape and the diversity within Jersey. The exhibition showcases some of their skills and reflects what they deliver at the college.

    • Exhibition at Le Moulin de Quétivel: Until You Became Me
      10:00 am-4:00 pm
      2022.04.21

    All day
    2022.04.26-2022.12.31

  • Mr Jones
    8:00 pm-10:00 pm
    2022.04.29

    https://youtu.be/wtWSyFNT9qY

Starring James Norton, Vanessa Kirby and Peter Sarsgaard, ‘Mr Jones’ chronicles a journalist’s journey as he travels deep into the Soviet Union in the 1930s to uncover an international conspiracy. Based on real-life events.

Gareth Jones’ great great niece and nephews (Eleanor Colley, Gareth Colley and Trystan Colley) all live in Jersey and are pleased to work together with Jersey Arts Centre to screen the film in support of Ukraine, saying:

“Our great great uncle Gareth Jones, was a remarkable man. Having grown up listening to our grandmother’s stories about him around the dinner table, it was surreal to witness his life being portrayed in “Mr. Jones”.

Through Gareth’s exposure of the Holodomor (a famine orchestrated by Stalin where between 4 – 6 million Ukrainians were starved to death), the relevance of what Gareth uncovered against all the odds has never been more apparent.

“Mr Jones” is incredibly important in not only raising awareness of the tragic events in Ukraine historically, but also enabling people to have a better understanding of why their incredibly brave population are fighting today to defend their freedom, sovereignty, national identity and ultimately their democracy.”

The film will be accompanied by some short introductory remarks from Gareth Jones’ family and Advocate Christopher Scholefield.

Mr Jones is being screened with the kind permission of Signature Entertainment in aid of the Bailiff’s Ukraine Appeal.

Before visiting Jersey Arts Centre, please read our COVID-19 guidelines here.

      Thurs/Fri Feb 24th & 25th DANA GILLESPIE (UK) & DINO BAPTISTE (UK) Doors 7:30pm Show: 8:30pm – 10:45pm + encores

David Bowie wrote the song “Andy Warhol” for Dana Gillespie, and she paid the favour back by singing backing vocals on Ziggy Stardust And The Spiders From Mars. Bowie then produced her 1973 album Weren’t born A Man” featuring Mick Ronson on guitar. She has since focused exclusively on blues and become one of genres most magnificent songwriters and performers. A true honour to welcome her to Jersey for, remarkably, her first show! Expect not only unforgettable music but also some extraordinary stories from her eventful and well chronicled life in the music business.

Dino Baptiste is an extraordinary piano virtuoso . His influences revolve around three idols since a teenager – Little Richard, Jerry Lee Lewis & Ray Charles. He currently showcases over 270 live shows per year, including specialised Blues and Boogie Woogie concerts and residency gigs at various club, pub and restaurant venues throughout the UK and abroad. His popularity takes him all over the UK and worldwide where he is a regular performer at some of the most prestigious international music events. His long association with Dana Gillespie has seen them build up an almost telepathic musical interplay and a raucous on stage chemistry.

      Thurs/Fri March 24th & 25th Philippe Lejeune (FR) & Paul Robinson (UK) Doors 7:30pm Show: 8:30pm – 10:45pm + encores

Perhaps the greatest living French Blues and Boogie Woogie piano virtuoso, Philippe Lejuene was honoured to the protege of legendary Paris based blues giant Memphis Slim. Slim thought so much of his talents that he recorded a highly regarded double album with him “Dialog In Boogie”, took him tour and featured him on top Parisian nation al TV shows. Philippe has had an amazing career since, touring the world and releasing many fine records on France’s legendary Black & Blue record label featuring blues and boogie standards and his own compositions.

Nina Simone’s drummer of 20 years, Paul Robinson is currently the full time drummer for the Eric bibb band and has done sessions and live work for the like of Paul Macartney, Michael Jackson, Celine Dion, Michale Bolton, Rod Stewart, The Pet Shop Boys to name a few on the endless list.Truly one of the world’s finest drummers!

      Friday/Sat April 29th & 30th James Oliver Band (UK) Doors 7:30pm Show: 8:30pm – 10:45pm + encores

Considered the most exciting of the next gernaration of Rock N Roll, Rockabilly, Blues and Roots guitarists and a singer in the Rory Gallagher mold – Wales’s James Oliver is an unstoppable gigging machine – playing over 300 shows a year and gaining praise from such musical luminaries as Albert Lee and massive amounts of radio 2 airplay. He will be joined by Olly Rybarczuck on bass and Tim Bryan drums and Giles Robson on harp and we’ve moved these shows to a Friday and Saturday so people can go WILD and party! Expect a sound with elements of Wilko-era Dr Feelgood, Chuck Berry, Hank Marvin, Elmore James and Albert Lee.

More About… GILES ROBSON (JSY) Who will collaborate on each show…

Local Jersey resident and Internationally acclaimed blues artist Giles Robson, is considered one of the finest blues harmonica virtuosos in the world. The only UK or EU blues artist to appear on Chicago’s legendary blues label Alligator Records, who describe him as a “Blues giant, absolute master of the form”.

In 2019 he triumphantly toured 15 different countries worldwide and became the third only UK blues artist alongside Eric Clapton and Peter Green to win a Memphis Blues Music Award (the Grammy of the blues).

His 2019 album “Don’t Give Up On The Blues” was a Mojo Magazine Blues Album Of The Year and was described as the best album of 2020 by Sweden’s Jefferson Magazine – the world’s longest running in print blues magazine. • Prehistory Weekend – Loving Your History
    All day
    2022.04.30-2022.05.01

Love history or just want to learn more about our Island’s stories?  Join us for our Loving History events and step back in time to take part in living history activities.

Step back in time for a weekend of pre history demonstrations at La Hougue Bie. Experimental archaeologist Dr James Dilley and Emma Jones of AncientCraft will provide an accurate Neolithic living history display in and around the replica Neolithic Longhouse for visitors to the museum. This will be the first full living history display conducted at the Longhouse since its construction and it is the perfect setting to bring this special part of Jersey’s heritage to life.

The display will consist of Ancient Craft demonstrating a number of crafts and daily tasks that would have been familiar thousands of years ago. These will include flintknapping, fire lighting, cooking, axe making, wood working, bone and antler carving and jewellery making. Evidence from across the island indicates all these crafts and more would have been visible thousands of years ago, thus giving the rare opportunity to see these skills in action.

Some of the crafts will be open for visitors of all ages to try for themselves to give a sense of how long some seemingly simple processes would have taken. Visitors will be able to take in the sight, sounds and smells of life thousands of years ago, before being able to touch replica objects and talk to the ‘prehistoric people’ about their life.
