CANON LOUIS

Mondays – 10am to 4pm

Canon Louis is a member of the Augustinian Order. He is one of 6 holy men scraping out an existence in the former glory of The Abbey of St Helier. You’ll meet him near the granite cross of the Hermitage Rock.

The year is 1194 and the focus of the church has moved from Jersey to Normandy and in the process downgraded the Abbey to a Priory. Louis has a choice thing or two to say about that. But he hopes Archbishop Thomas Becket will soon reconcile with king Henry and the Priory will flourish once more…Meanwhile he sings the praises of the Lord, records his thoughts on parchment, keeps the relics clean and prays for a better tomorrow.
