1591 – SIR JOHN NORRIS PAID A VISIT TO MONT ORGUEIL CASTLE

Wednesdays 10am to 4pm

Sir John Norris, the most acclaimed British soldier of his day paid a visit to Mont Orgueil Castle to see his sister Lady Catherine Paulet and her husband Sir Anthony Paulet, Governor of Jersey. He reported that ‘ the castle was of little strength, as for the Islanders themselves, they were a fearful people who took alarm at every ship they saw and who would run out of the island if they had a back door’. Hear tales and intrigue of who the Jersey Islanders feared accompanied with Tudor music by Cally Noel.
