Geowalk: Explore Portelet and Noirmont

Explore Jersey’s past, from wild landscapes to rich culture and ancient stories, on a guided walk with an aspiring Jersey Geopark guide.

Join us for a guided exploration of Portelet and the Noirmont headland, where wild landscapes meet stunning coastal views. Discover why this area is recognised as a Site of Special Interest, shaped by a unique blend of history, wildlife, geography and geology.

As we take in the panoramic seascapes, we’ll uncover the natural and cultural stories that make this headland so distinctive. The walk then descends into Portelet Bay, where we’ll examine the fascinating deposits at the back of the beach and explore the geological features that define the shoreline.

From the island’s granite bedrock to striking dolerite dykes exposed across the bay, you’ll gain insight into the forces that have shaped this remarkable coastline.

This geowalk will start in Noirmont main carpark.

This Geowalk is restricted in number and is not suitable for people with mobility issues.
