Guernsey - A short journey from home, but a million miles from the hectic pace of 21st century life! Guernsey is the second largest of the Channel Islands and full of natural beauty,

Guernsey holidays provide a peaceful environment for relaxing. Guernsey’s winding lanes reveal rolling pastures, tree filled valleys, dotted with traditional Guernsey farmhouses constructed from local granite and lead to dramatic cliff views and glorious sandy beaches – there is a surprise around every corner!

Guernsey is an island of rich natural beauty, punctuated by gentle reminders of its often turbulent past. Guernsey remains self-governing, whilst remaining loyal to the Crown. The island is a magnet for walkers, water sports enthusiasts, nature lovers and gastronomes.

The Guernsey Aquarium, housed in La Vallette Tunnel, is the location of forty-seven separate displays, ranging from local sea fish to tropical marine fish, as well as frogs, toads, terrapins, snakes, basilisks and even lizards!

Another popular family favourite is the Tasty Walk trails. With 15 self-guided walks you can really make the most of what the island to offer. Get the kids outside and exploring; whether it’s the rugged south coast cliff paths, the long sweeping bays of the west or uncovering the historic past of the island’s capital, the island has much to offer in just 25 square miles.

There are a wide a range of sporting and other activities available throughout Guernsey including paddle boarding, coasteering, diving, angling and sailing. The islands west coast can also provide excellent surfing and windsurfing conditions.

There are a huge variety of culinary styles available from all over the world, as well as the more traditional restaurants. St. Peter Port also has a good choice of lively pubs and bars where you can soak up the atmosphere, along with a few cocktails or locally brewed ales.

During October and November, Guernsey is the location for the ‘Tennerfest’ festival, offering mouth-watering menus from just ten pounds.

With over 100 miles of coastline, and host to the cleanest beach in the UK, Guernsey has a wealth of sandy beaches and dunes, secret coves and rock pools, rugged harbours and endless, beautiful cliff walks. From the long sandy sweeps on the west coast to secluded caves in the south, Guernsey has more than 25 beaches.

Three of Guernsey’s beaches, L’Eree, Grandes Rocques and Port Soif, have recently won Good Beach Guide recommendations for water cleanliness.

St. Peter Port offers a mixture of well known high street stores and an abundance of eclectic boutiques. Many of the retailers in Guernsey offer low duty free prices on a range of items. Big savings can be made on jewellery, photographic and electrical goods. A range of antiques and exclusive boutiques can be found in the Old Quarter of the island.

The pretty town of St Peter Port is the islands capital and a popular place to stay in Guernsey.
Historic St Peter Port nestles against a hillside, sweeping down to one of the world’s most beautiful harbours, bursting with elegant yachts and working fishing boats. The feel is most definitely Mediterranean. The town is a collection of narrow lanes and alleyways, leading uphill from the sea, to a skyline of church steeples and red-painted roof tops. Fine Georgian facades line the quaint, cobbled High Street and adjacent pedestrianised streets draw you in with the promise of another delight around the corner.
