Our first Charity & Community Fayre helping to support over 20 local Charities and 35 local small businesses. With live local music all day including a set by The Band of the island of Jersey it promises to be a real community focused event.

More than just art, ‘Connection’ is a tribute to Jersey’s rich history, woven together through an unexpected medium – JT phone cards.
This artwork is a testament to the power of creativity. Bedding, a wheelchair user, brings a unique vision to ‘Connection’, showing how art can inspire, transcend boundaries, and offer space for imagination and self-expression. Inspired by childhood memories of collecting phone cards, Bedding and de la Haye transformed them into a spectacular visual tapestry of Jersey’s landscape, culture and traditions.
Over 900 hours of dedication turned this piece into a celebration of connection – between past and present, history and home, people and place. From ancient Neolithic sites and iconic modern landmarks like the Millennium Stones, to displays by the Red Arrows, every detail reflects the ties that bind us.
Come and explore this unique work, discover the memories within it, and reflect on your own connections to Jersey, its history and its people.
The world’s largest Celtic hoard was discovered in Jersey, this exhibition explores why people might have buried it there.
In 2012 the world’s largest Celtic hoard was discovered buried in a field in Jersey. This exhibition explores what might have led people to bury a hoard of 70,000 coins and jewellery in Jersey, 2000 years ago and looks closely at some of the items found within the hoard.
Explore the time when Roman armies marched through Europe, 2000 years ago, they left behind them a trail of death and destruction which almost wiped out the culture and civilization of the Celtic people who lived there. Using scientific and archaeological research we can learn more about the people that buried the hoard, about their lives and customs. Ground-breaking research can tell us more about the moment and the place the hoard was buried. It might even challenge some long-held ideas about why hoards were buried.
The Link Gallery is a small gallery at Jersey Museum where every month a local artist displays their work. Each month the exhibition changes, creating a year of local artwork covering a wide-range of topics, medias and artistic styles. We also invite local artistic groups, schools or arts organisations to use the Link Gallery.
The Link Gallery is on the ground floor of Jersey Museum and is free to access.
his 20-metre long replica Longhouse was built over two years by volunteers, with oversight from Ancient Technology expert Luke Winter. Since it was officially opened in 2019, volunteers have performed day-to-day maintenance tasks using authentic techniques and tools, and act as guides, demonstrators and interpreters to explain the project to visitors. They are also continually researching, experimenting and training to acquire more Stone Age skills to share, including basket-making and flintknapping.
Every Tuesday, a member of the volunteer team lights a fire in the Longhouse using authentic techniques. This adds warmth to the building but also stops any insect infestation in the traditional straw roof. During your visit, the volunteer will also talk about the traditional methods used and the lessons learned during the build.

Are you interested in joining Traditional Music Sessions but not sure where to start?
We meet the first Tuesday evening of each month for a folk session – playing traditional tunes and songs in a friendly and supportive atmosphere.
We enjoy playing a range of tunes from the Irish, English and Scottish traditions, plus a few from further abroad. If you don’t play or sing, just come along and listen!
There are a few things that make this ‘slow session’ a bit different from other sessions as well as just playing slower:
1. Bringing along sheet music/chord sheets/notes is completely fine – in fact we will aim to provide music and chords for the main repertoire of tunes. If you’d like to hear it and try and copy, that’s fine too! Ideally, the eventual goal is to play tunes by heart.
2. We may play a tune through, discuss how to play it better and then give it another go – the idea is to practice and improve rather than rushing through! Listening to each other as we play is the new skill that we are learning.
3. The plan is that we nominate a couple of new tunes/songs each month so we know what to practice. We will try to draw from a growing repertoire of tunes and songs as we progress together and have access to this before the sessions so people can practice and learn ahead.
The idea of the slow session is to create a monthly goal for ourselves to learn by heart and to enjoy tunes that grow gradually more familiar. Perhaps you have a favourite you would like to add?
If you are a more experienced musician, you are welcome to join us too and experiment with playing harmonies and variations. Most tunes will be played at least three times through, with the basic tune the first time so that everyone knows what to join in with.

Stand to attention for the Midday Parade and prepare yourself for the resounding bang of the signal gun
Step into the Parade Ground at Elizabeth Castle, where you’ll find yourself standing to attention under the watchful eye of the Master Gunner. His sharp gaze ensures that your posture is impeccable, back is straight, chin is high and belly tucked in as you prepare for the lunchtime Parade.
The Master Gunner will lead you through a captivating journey into the past. With his deep knowledge of the Castle’s rich history, he will share stories that stretch back through the centuries, from the reign of Queen Elizabeth I, when the Castle played a pivotal role in defending Jersey from potential threats, to the Battle of Jersey in 1781, when the Island’s militia fought off a French invasion. After hearing about the Castle’s history, it will be time to experience the resounding bang of a signal gun and later in the day, the flintlock musket.
The Master Gunner will demonstrate the power of these formidable weapons, giving you a glimpse into the military practices of the past. The sound of the gunshot will echo across the Parade Ground and is not for the fainthearted.
Meeting the Master Gunner offers a truly immersive experience, combining military discipline with storytelling, historical exploration and a demonstration of the weaponry that once protected this strategic fortress. As you stand in formation, listening to his tales and preparing for the thunderous sounds of the artillery, you’ll feel history come alive around you, giving you a deeper appreciation for the Castle’s place in the defence of Jersey.

The Island has been a home, a haven, a paradise, a battleground, a prison. It has been a place of dreams and disasters, of connection and isolation, of vulnerability and strength, of unique creatures and ancient landscapes, of pioneers and tradition.
Over the course of hundreds of thousands of years, four million people have been part of its history.
This exhibition celebrates some of our Island’s most significant moments and discovers how living here has affected the lives of just a few of those four million. Using our most special objects as witnesses to our past, it explores how we have come to be an Island and Islanders.
Prehistoric mammoth skulls and dwarf red deer bones tell the story of becoming an island; gold torques and ancient coin hoards explore the theme of Jersey as a sacred island; royal charters describe the Island as separate and different. During the Battle of Jersey and the Occupation, the Island was a place of conflict. At other times, Jersey was a place of refuge. Islands are also a little bit exotic and Jersey has attracted artists, honeymooners and holidaymakers. In this new exhibition, discover stories of our Island and explore what it means to be Jersey.

Enter the Labourer’s Cottage at Hamptonne in the year 1880 and meet Astra the Bonnet Maker, a skilled artisan who brings the craft of Jersey bonnet-making to life.
As you watch her work, witness the intricate craftsmanship that has been passed down through generations, preserving a traditional skill that was once essential to daily life in Jersey.
The Jersey Bonnet is more than just a piece of headwear; it’s a symbol of tradition, practicality and style. Made to protect the wearer from the elements, it was a vital part of the Jersey woman’s wardrobe during the late 19th century. Astra’s demonstration highlights the detailed process involved in constructing these bonnets, from selecting the right fabric to shaping the structure and sewing each piece together with precision.
She also shares the fascinating history behind the Jersey Bonnet’s design, explaining how different patterns evolved over time based on the needs of the Island’s women and their family heritage.

Stand to attention for the Midday Parade and prepare yourself for the resounding bang of the signal gun
Step into the Parade Ground at Elizabeth Castle, where you’ll find yourself standing to attention under the watchful eye of the Master Gunner. His sharp gaze ensures that your posture is impeccable, back is straight, chin is high and belly tucked in as you prepare for the lunchtime Parade.
The Master Gunner will lead you through a captivating journey into the past. With his deep knowledge of the Castle’s rich history, he will share stories that stretch back through the centuries, from the reign of Queen Elizabeth I, when the Castle played a pivotal role in defending Jersey from potential threats, to the Battle of Jersey in 1781, when the Island’s militia fought off a French invasion. After hearing about the Castle’s history, it will be time to experience the resounding bang of a signal gun and later in the day, the flintlock musket.
The Master Gunner will demonstrate the power of these formidable weapons, giving you a glimpse into the military practices of the past. The sound of the gunshot will echo across the Parade Ground and is not for the fainthearted.
Meeting the Master Gunner offers a truly immersive experience, combining military discipline with storytelling, historical exploration and a demonstration of the weaponry that once protected this strategic fortress. As you stand in formation, listening to his tales and preparing for the thunderous sounds of the artillery, you’ll feel history come alive around you, giving you a deeper appreciation for the Castle’s place in the defence of Jersey.

Every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. Parade and cannon firing from 12pm -to 1.30pm and Musket firing from 2pm to 3pm
