The Link Gallery is a small gallery at Jersey Museum where every month a local artist displays their work. Each month the exhibition changes, creating a year of local artwork covering a wide-range of topics, medias and artistic styles. We also invite local artistic groups, schools or arts organisations to use the Link Gallery.

The Link Gallery is on the ground floor of Jersey Museum and is free to access.

his 20-metre long replica Longhouse was built over two years by volunteers, with oversight from Ancient Technology expert Luke Winter. Since it was officially opened in 2019, volunteers have performed day-to-day maintenance tasks using authentic techniques and tools, and act as guides, demonstrators and interpreters to explain the project to visitors. They are also continually researching, experimenting and training to acquire more Stone Age skills to share, including basket-making and flintknapping.

Every Tuesday, a member of the volunteer team lights a fire in the Longhouse using authentic techniques. This adds warmth to the building but also stops any insect infestation in the traditional straw roof. During your visit, the volunteer will also talk about the traditional methods used and the lessons learned during the build.

Start the New Year on the right foot!  Enjoy a wonderful winter walk with Alli & Neil Singleton on New Year’s Day and brush away the ‘Christmas blues’ around Ouaisné Bay!

Join us for our annual Turkey Buster Walk on New Year’s Day 2026 – a refreshing way to shake off the festive indulgence and enjoy Jersey’s stunning coastline.

 Start/Finish: Ouaisné Car Park
 Distance: 1.7 miles
 Terrain: Mainly sandy paths with one short but steep hill along the cliff path between Ouaisné and St Brelade.

Take in beautiful sea views, crisp winter air, and the perfect mix of being in nature with good company! At the end of the walk you’ll even be treated to some sloe gin and chocolates!

They could not have been more wrong. Learn the surprising story of how farms survived the Occupation and thrived following Liberation.

To mark the 80th anniversary of Liberation, immerse yourself in this captivating ten-minute projected film, ‘A Day to Remember’. As the magnificent events unfold, we hear from Islanders who witnessed them, as well as evacuees in England and deportees in Germany.

Drawing upon archive film and an immense library of stills, we experience the anticipation of freedom, the final surrender on 9 May 1945 and the arrival of Force 135, set to clear away the aftermath of war and make the Island safe again.

Released from captivity, Islanders explore their homeland afresh and begin the journey of recovery. Civilians and servicemen return with news of those who would never come home. Finally, we hear of the gratitude felt by descendants of Occupation veterans for the freedom that was gained all those years ago and the life that it has given them.

The world’s largest Celtic hoard was discovered in Jersey, this exhibition explores why people might have buried it there.

In 2012 the world’s largest Celtic hoard was discovered buried in a field in Jersey. This exhibition explores what might have led people to bury a hoard of 70,000 coins and jewellery in Jersey, 2000 years ago and looks closely at some of the items found within the hoard.

Explore the time when Roman armies marched through Europe, 2000 years ago, they left behind them a trail of death and destruction which almost wiped out the culture and civilization of the Celtic people who lived there. Using scientific and archaeological research we can learn more about the people that buried the hoard, about their lives and customs. Ground-breaking research can tell us more about the moment and the place the hoard was buried. It might even challenge some long-held ideas about why hoards were buried.

Our ‘Jersey Royal Charters’ banner exhibition is in residence in the Undercroft at Mont Orgueil.

Many of the Royal Charters before Elizabeth I’s reign mention the Castle with its military and strategic importance to the English monarch.

Elizabeth I, of course, favoured the new castle named for her in St Aubin’s Bay (Elizabeth Castle). Following her reign, mention of Mont Orgueil ceased, although the charters continued to reinforce Jersey’s special relationship with the Crown.

This exhibition examines the many challenges Jersey faced following its release from five long years of German Occupation. After the celebrations are over, how do you manage the transition from military rule to civilian administration? How do you unite a population divided by loss, separation, and suspicions of collaboration? And how do you return the Island to prosperity after five years of economic isolation and mounting war debts?

The exhibition explores the years following Liberation, both the challenges, joys and opportunities, and traces the Island’s long road to recovery. It also considers how we have remembered Liberation as the years have passed and asks what we can learn from this experience.

The Island has been a home, a haven, a paradise, a battleground, a prison. It has been a place of dreams and disasters, of connection and isolation, of vulnerability and strength, of unique creatures and ancient landscapes, of pioneers and tradition.

Over the course of hundreds of thousands of years, four million people have been part of its history.

This exhibition celebrates some of our Island’s most significant moments and discovers how living here has affected the lives of just a few of those four million. Using our most special objects as witnesses to our past, it explores how we have come to be an Island and Islanders.

Prehistoric mammoth skulls and dwarf red deer bones tell the story of becoming an island; gold torques and ancient coin hoards explore the theme of Jersey as a sacred island; royal charters describe the Island as separate and different. During the Battle of Jersey and the Occupation, the Island was a place of conflict. At other times, Jersey was a place of refuge. Islands are also a little bit exotic and Jersey has attracted artists, honeymooners and holidaymakers. In this new exhibition, discover stories of our Island and explore what it means to be Jersey.

The clarity of light in Jersey – the sunniest place in the British Isles – has long been recognised by visiting and local artists as a unique and attractive feature of the Island. The exhibition examines artists’ responses to Jersey’s natural light through the lens of light as a subject, as a contemplation and as a tool to market a vision of Jersey. Visitors will have the opportunity to see artworks from the Jersey Heritage collection that have not been on display for a number of years.

Released from captivity, Islanders explore their homeland afresh and begin the journey of recovery. Civilians and servicemen return with news of those who would never come home. Finally, we hear of the gratitude felt by descendants of Occupation veterans for the freedom that was gained all those years ago and the life that it has given them.

Our ‘Jersey Royal Charters’ banner exhibition is in residence in the Undercroft at Mont Orgueil.

Many of the Royal Charters before Elizabeth I’s reign mention the Castle with its military and strategic importance to the English monarch.

Elizabeth I, of course, favoured the new castle named for her in St Aubin’s Bay (Elizabeth Castle). Following her reign, mention of Mont Orgueil ceased, although the charters continued to reinforce Jersey’s special relationship with the Crown.

This exhibition examines the many challenges Jersey faced following its release from five long years of German Occupation. After the celebrations are over, how do you manage the transition from military rule to civilian administration? How do you unite a population divided by loss, separation, and suspicions of collaboration? And how do you return the Island to prosperity after five years of economic isolation and mounting war debts?

The exhibition explores the years following Liberation, both the challenges, joys and opportunities, and traces the Island’s long road to recovery. It also considers how we have remembered Liberation as the years have passed and asks what we can learn from this experience.

The Link Gallery is a small gallery at Jersey Museum where every month a local artist displays their work. Each month the exhibition changes, creating a year of local artwork covering a wide-range of topics, medias and artistic styles. We also invite local artistic groups, schools or arts organisations to use the Link Gallery.
