13th Parish Film Festival

13th Parish Film Festival returns for another great year – and calls for support for the Arts in Jersey

26th March 2024 – Jersey’s International Film Festival Charity, the 13th Parish Festival, returns to the Jersey Arts Centre 23rd – 26th May 2024, bringing islanders the best of independent cinema, amongst other experiences, events and creative fun for all the family and die-hard independent film fans alike!

Last year was hailed as their most successful festival yet, including: an outdoor walking cinema around St. Helier ‘A Wall is a Screen’ brought over from Germany, a free 5 day ‘Kino’ filmmaking course from French film experts Off Courts, two beautifully curated movie mornings for children and families, virtual reality experiences, where you could experience climbing Mount Everest, and an incredible Jersey Showcase of films from local filmmakers. Organisers are hoping that the local community and businesses will get behind another exciting festival this year. The 13th Parish Film Festival began five years ago, initiated by experienced cinephiles keen to bring a dynamic and creative event to Jersey. The festival celebrates the best new independent films from around the world, including award-winning and acclaimed films from Venice and Sundance film festivals. The festival also gives local filmmakers a chance to make and showcase their own films, with workshops and collaborative experiences to encourage creativity and filming across the Channel Islands, plus the chance to see their films on the big screen.

With so much to include in this year’s festival, 13th Parish also hope that some long term partnerships can be made with local organisations and businesses, in a year where charities have seen funding diminish.

Director of 13th Parish Festival Tony Langlois said: ‘For the size of the island, we are proud to have created a festival with such global reach and interest and an immense amount of hard work goes into the festival. As a charity, we are also happy to work with sponsors and partners whose CSR goals share our passion for keeping the arts alive and thriving on the island, giving the community experiences and films they may never be able to get otherwise. The Channel Islands have huge potential for film and for being a creative hub. Being part of an incredible international film circuit is something we can’t loose.”
