Whether you’re a history buff, enthusiast or simply seeking a unique outing, discover some of the best preserved WW2 German fortifications in Europe today maintained by the C.I. Occupation Society (CIOS) since the late 1970s. Every site opened is unique from near operational restored condition bunkers including details of original crew members presented with a ‘working atmosphere’ feel to large sprawling underground multi-floored or multi-bunker complex’s!

Batterie Lothringen – Noirmont Point

The multi-floored Noirmont Command Bunker and the neighbouring multi-floored Naval Observation and Range-Finding Tower ‘MP1’ will be open along with 5 other bunkers of Batterie Lothringen plus all the usual extras!

Resistance Nest La Mare Mill – Val de la Mare
Open between 14:00-17:00
(Invited VIPs and CIOS members 10:00-12:00)
First pubic opening of this bunker after extensive restoration of what is the best preserved example of a 6-loopholed heavy machine gun turret in Europe today! Also living history displays in cooperation with Force 135 Living History Group demonstrating minefield clearance of the flanking mixed anti-tank/anti-personnel Minefield 75 in Val de la Mare alongside the bunker, ‘Troops-Own’ weapons position with a tripod mounted MG34 machine gun and ‘Panzerschreck rocket launcher as originally deployed at the position, a 30cm searchlight will be back in its operation pit for the first time in over 80 years (weather permitting on the exterior displays but its looking good!) and discover the story of American Air Force Pilot 2nd Lieutenant Walter Davis who’s P-47 Thunderbolt bellylanded only 600m from the bunker on June 23th 1944!
