Chamber Music Recital – String Quartet & Vaughan-Williams Lecture

Enjoy a lunchtime recital, celebrating the 150th anniversary of composer and WWI Veteran Ralph Vaughan Williams.

– Lyatoshinsky| Suite of Ukrainian Folk Music | Movements 1 & 4
A unique concert showcasing the chamber music work of Vaughan-Williams and Villa-Lobos. Both composers were inspired by folk music in England and Brazil respectively. Villa Lobos was described as “the single most significant creative figure in 20th-century Brazilian art music” while Vaughan-Williams who wrote glorious and life affirming music is widely acknowledged as one of the truly great English voices. Continuing the theme of folkmusic, the concert also features two exerpts from a remarkable Suite of Ukrainian Folk Music by Ukrainian composer Lyatoshinsky.
The performers are the leaders of the Jersey Chamber Orchestra and feature in such orchestras as the BBC Symphony Orchestra and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.
