Based on an incredible true story, this crime drama, starring Al Pacino and John Cazale, takes place in a sweltering Brooklyn in 1972. First-time crooks Sonny (Pacino) and Sal (Cazale) plan to rob a branch of the Chase Manhattan Bank, however, everything that can go wrong, does go wrong. Dog Day Afternoon was nominated for six Academy Awards, with Frank Pierson winning for Best Original Screenplay. Please note that this film does contain frequent strong language.
