How to build a Neolithic Longhouse

A fascinating illustrated Talk at Jersey Museum – Luke Winter will explain the background of the Neolithic Longhouse project and volunteers.

Ancient technology expert Luke Winter (pictured) managed the project to build a 20-metre-long replica Neolithic Longhouse at La Hougue Bie and is director of Historic Concepts Ltd.

In this illustrated FREE talk, Luke will explain the processes involved in the building and how we need to recruit more volunteers to maintain the Longhouse and interpret it for visitors.

Between 2016 and 2019, ancient technology expert Luke Winter inspired and managed a small group of hard-working JH volunteers who – in all weather conditions, using authentic tools and techniques – built a 20-metre-long replica Longhouse at La Hougue Bie. The award-winning Longhouse provides a unique educational resource, for adults and school children, and is a great example of Living History.
