Jean Efflam Bavouzet with the Jersey Chamber Orchestra

Music in Action invites you to a celebratory festival concert with the Jersey Chamber Orchestra, Music in Action Choir and soloists Jean Efflam Bavouzet and his piano partner, Maria Nemecz. Join us for a concert of favourites including Mozart’s Double Piano Concerto and Haydn’s Symphony No. 47, led by the chief conductor of the Jersey Chamber Orchestra, Eamonn Dougan.

Following our festival theme of mirrors, we open with Der Spiegel von Arkadien (‘The Mirror of Arcadia’), a stunning piece by Süssmayr: the man famous for completing Mozart’s Requiem. Süssmayr‘s direct knowledge of Mozart’s technique is clear in this work.

You can observe the parallels between the composers through the exquisite masterpiece that follows, by Mozart himself: his Double Piano Concerto. In this piece, the interplay between our soloists, Jean Efflam and Maria, will be fascinating to watch.

The second half features the Music in Action Choir performing Haydn’s Insanae et vanae curae, Frank’s Panis Angelicus with soloist Omara Silvester, and Mozart’s Ave verum corpus.

The Jersey Chamber Orchestra will complete the programme with Haydn’s Symphony No. 47, one of his celebrated masterpieces. To continue our mirrors theme, Haydn demonstrates his technical skill with a third movement that creates a palindrome – it’s the same from front to back and back to front!

Don’t miss your opportunity to join Music in Action at this exclusive event hosted in the beautiful St Helier Methodist Church, where you will enjoy an ensemble of famous musical works: a night of classics to remember!
