INSPIRING WOMEN OF JERSEY

2 to 29 May

“Inspiring Women of Jersey” by Penny Byrne was commissioned by Soroptimist International Jersey to celebrate 70 years as a Club working to benefit women and girls locally, nationally and internationally. All proceeds from the sale of the book will be shared equally between Brightly and the Jersey Women’s Refuge.

The exhibition is the result of a competition held during 2021 which invited local students aged 14+ to create artwork of 16 inspiring Jersey women. Students from 5 schools and Highlands College took up the challenge. (Grainville, Victoria College, Haute Vallée, Hautlieu and JCG)

Thanks to sponsorhip from Mourant a creative workshop was held for the students in October 2021 with artist Eliza Anna Reine and art teacher Jacque Rutter

The ‘winners’ creations are published on the main pages of the book but all the students who took part have been included

The inspiring women include: Frances Le Sueur, Louisa Gould, Anne Perchard, Elinor Glyn and Caroline Trachy.
