Lunchtime Talks – Some early Jersey weather commentators

Meteorologist Frank Le Blancq talks about some early Jersey weather commentators.

In this talk we will look at the works of some early Jersey writers and diarists. Starting from the 12th century extending up to the early Victorian era, after which the availability of accurate instruments at modest cost put weather recording on a more formal footing.

Who were these early historical figures? What did they write about, why did they mention the weather at all and how is it that they came to provide much very useful information for weather and climate historians?
