Get Ready to Unleash Your Inner Baker at The Great Jersey Bake Off!

The Butterfly Cafe, a local not-for-profit organisation providing essential job opportunities and training for survivors of abuse, is excited to announce the launch of an exciting baking competition, The Great Jersey Bake Off!

Scheduled for Thursday, 16 November, the expert judges from The Butterfly Cafe will evaluate the most imaginative and delectable cakes, all while guests enjoy a spread of drinks and nibbles.

Cheyenne O‘Connor, CEO at The Butterfly Cafe, said ‘We are really looking forward to the teams donning their aprons and whipping up some kitchen magic for this competition! The winning cake will earn a spot on The Butterfly Cafe’s menu, prominently featuring the winning team’s name. This is not only a chance to leave your mark on the local culinary scene, but also to support an incredible local cause’.

Participation comes with a £100 entry fee per team, which will directly benefit our non-for-profit, The Butterfly Effect. Many of the team are fully trained trauma-informed specialists (including those with lived experience) and are on hand to help. They aim to put the right support in place, helping survivors to move forward in their lives.

All you need to do is enter, and turn up with your baked masterpiece on the day, ready for judging!

For more information and to secure your spot in this exciting baking competition, reach out to Cheyenne O’Connor at cheyenne@thebutterflyeffect.je. Hurry, as spots are limited.

About The Butterfly Effect:

We’re The Butterfly Effect, a brand new Non-Profit Organisation in Jersey.

We’ve found an inclusive and delicious way to fund a range of services for survivors of abuse, The Butterfly Cafe.

Our purpose is to support survivors of institutionalised abuse, sexual abuse and families who have either dealt or are dealing with the Island’s children’s services.

All profits made by our lovely cafe will be used to fund:

> counselling

> peer support groups

> therapy services

> advocacy services

Many of our team are fully trained trauma-informed specialists (including those with lived experience) and are on hand to help. We aim to put the right support in place, helping survivors to move forward in their lives.

Giving survivors a place to enjoy a refreshment in a safe, non-judgemental setting as well as providing job opportunities and training for those who may find it difficult to access the job market, due to their childhood experiences.

But we aren’t just for survivors, everyone is welcome in our little corner of St. Helier.

We look forward to welcoming you!
