Marc McCarty – Glassblower

My name is Marc McCarty, from Glassblowing Jersey,and I am the only Glassblower in the Channel Islands. I work and run a small studio at the Devils Hole, opposite to The Priory Inn, that is open to the public. I make bespoke hand blown vessels, Sculpture and lighting.

I often blow out big bubbles for the children that are watching and demonstrate glass techniques to all my visitors.

I teach hot glass making to small groups as taster sessions or one to ones for longer periods.

My work is inspired by the idea of, “dark at the bottom and light at the top” which I see as a metaphor for, life and death, earth and sky, hot and cold.Hot glass making is a passion that will last me a lifetime and I am pleased to share this passion.
