Jersey Freshwater Angling Association

The Jersey Freshwater Angling Association (“JFAA”) has been in existence for over 50 years and has provide coarse and game angling both for locals and visitors in the reservoirs, lakes and ponds in Jersey through partnerships with Jersey Water, National Trust , Department of the Environment, Simons Sand & Gravel, Les Mielles Golf and others.

The JFAA has an active membership of over 250 who regularly fish come rain or shine on the waters managed jointly by Jersey Water and the J.F.A.A. Members. The JFAA provides coaching and development opportunities for a variety of groups resulting in its  community angling program which has been a great success providing young people and teenagers opportunities with an enhanced active lifestyle.The JFAA also provides events for holidays for heroes, special needs juniors and others with full membership and overseas membership being offered which is open to everyone. The Jersey Freshwater Angling Association (“J.F.A.A.”) of the Association regularly fish in the European & World Championships and have won bronze medals in the World Championships in Ireland and have been individually placed as high as 5th and 8th.COARSE FISHING

If you are interested in Coarse fishing for species like Carp, Bream, Tench, Roach, Perch or Rudd then you can become a member of the J.F.A.A. and gain access to fish such venues as Millbrook and Danemarche Reservoirs in Waterworks Valley, the Les Mielles Golf Complex, St Ouen’s Pond and St Catherine’s Reservoir. All these waters hold a good supply of fish and some large specimen’s like Bream are over 10lb in weight and Carp to 20lb will tax even the best angler and are a thrill to catch. The Coarse fishing season runs annually from January through to December.TROUT FISHING

Trout fishing is well catered for in the Island and the fly fisher can make use of both Val De La Mare Reservoir and the upper and lower parts of Queen’s valley Reservoir. There are a number of boats available for the fly fisherman. All fishing is fly fishing only and some of the membership tie their own special creations. There is even a fly called the “Jersey Herd”.The reservoirs are stocked annually with all fish being reared locally by the JFAA and all member are encouraged and welcome to view the full Trout rearing process. Fish are generally stocked in the 3 – 4lb range and we have a few 8lb plus monsters in the reservoirs as well.
