Lindy Hop Jersey

Lindy Hop is the original swing dance, from the 1920’s, 30’s and 40’s. Born in the jazz age and created by Black Americans, it blended elements of African dance with the early ballroom dances. As swing music became more mainstream, Lindy Hop was taken up by white youth and it swept across America, giving birth to jive and rock and roll dancing as music fashions changed.

Lindy Hop Jersey meets every Monday night at St Matthew’s Church Hall (Millbrook), 8:15 – 10:00pm. Our evenings start with a beginner’s Lindy Hop class, then we have social dancing and an intermediate class. Your first visit is always free so come and give it a go!At times we organise weekend workshops and occasionally bring over teachers from the UK.
