Beresford Street Kitchen is a social enterprise providing quality education, training and employment for people with learning disabilities and/or autism. We have grown rapidly since opening in 2017 and now provide training and employment opportunities for 46 crew members in a range of hospitality and printing roles.
2020 was full of challenges, but it also gave us time to pause, reflect and look to the future and from these difficult times have come wonderful things. We conducted our first outcomes survey and are truly proud of the results which highlight how our work is closely aligned with the objectives of The Disability Strategy, the key outcome of which is to ensure that people living with disability enjoy a good quality of life. Since being part of BSK, crew members report a staggering 21% increase in life satisfaction.
We have big plans for the future to enable more crew to join the team and develop their independence and employability skills. Watch this space!
We couldn’t do what we do without the amazing support of the Jersey community and we’d love you to join us at this ‘spectacular’ event where we are aiming to raise at least £25,000.

What is Childhood Day?
Childhood Day on 10 June brings everyone across the UK together to have fun and protect children! Whether you fundraise, donate, volunteer or take action, all we ask is that you play your part to help keep children safe.
Together, we can stop child abuse.
If you are an adult worried about a child, you can speak to the NSPCC Helpline on 0808 800 5000
The NSPCC is the leading children’s charity in the UK and Channel Islands, specialising in preventing abuse and protecting children.
The physical and mental wellbeing of children is at the heart of what we do. It is our aim that every child in Jersey can grow up happy and healthy by supporting not only the child but their families too.
Our children’s practitioners deliver a range of preventative and therapeutic services from The Gower Centre in Stopford Road, St Helier, with some also available virtually.

Comedy writer, poet and performer Martha MacDonald has a very noisy head… and an excruciatingly quiet tortoise. When she inherited this hibernating reptile from her grandparents, he came with a lot of baggage. For a creature that more greatly resembles an average sized boulder than a pet; a creature who is 40% dandelions and 60% the unresolved burdens of familial guilt and responsibility – he certainly lives rent-free in Martha’s head (and garden) 100% of the time.
Join Martha for a work-in-progress version of her debut one-woman-show SHELL – a whirligig of stand-up comedy, oversharing, poetry and heavily tortoise-themed therapy.
SHELL is Jersey Arts Centre’s 39th residency.

An exhibition that explores how the right to protest has shaped and influenced the Island that we know today.
‘People! Power! Protest!’ explores the story of protest in Jersey, from the Corn Riots of 1769 to the Black Lives Matter movement of 2020.
Jersey may be small but Islanders have made their voices heard loud and clear over the years. Jersey has a fascinating history of protest in the Island and the theme of the exhibition coincides with the 250th anniversary of the Code of Laws that was introduced in response to the Corn Riots.
The exhibition explores how the right to protest has shaped and influenced the Island that we know today, from historic protests, such as the Corn Riots, to more recent protests such as Extinction Rebellion and Black Lives Matter.
Among the items on display is the official 18th century court records showing the redacted demands of the Corn Riots protestors, and the petition signed by thousands of people to try and save Queen’s Valley from being flooded in the 1980s. There are also the banners and placards from other protests over the years and photographs of significant post-war campaigns and demonstrations.
As you enter the exhibition ‘People! Power! Protest!’, you’ll see a stunning graffiti-style entrance wall by designer James Carter, of Midnight Industries. Celebrated local artist Ian Rolls has also created a new version of his iconic climate stripes mural in the environmental protest section of the exhibition. Visitors can to listen to stories of protest and share their own memories of their involvement in campaigns and demonstrations over the years.

You will use a mixed media approach to exploring colour palettes for sketchbooks and small art works using fruit, flowers, and foliage as our starting point. It’s going to be a multi-coloured explosion of creativity. Materials will be provided but any additional items welcome!

We all need a little help with our wellbeing right now and there’s lots of evidence to suggest that scrapbooking can really help with this. Encapsulating the happy and sad times in pictorial or journal form can help us process our feelings as well as creating a memory/diary/vision to share or keep. Using the principles of art therapy, this course will be a safe space to help you to take a creative approach to journaling your thoughts and memories. Materials will be provided but any additional items welcome!
Bring your little ones to the mill for a special storytelling and play session just for them.
Every session will be delivered in an interactive format, encouraging your child to take part and learn stories through drama, action, songs and role-play.
Suitable for children aged 6 months – 4 years. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Wednesdays from May to September at Mont Orgueil Castle
10am to 4pm

Although it contains a flight of steep steps, it is possible to bypass these if necessary. Toilet facilities and refreshments available at the beginning and end of route. Liberty Bus Route 1 / 1a

On this gentle meander through our charming town of St Helier, where contemporary architecture sits comfortably, and unobtrusively alongside Georgian, Regency and Victorian, meet six Jersey heroes.
Firstly, we meet the heroes of the occupation, whose stories are told in moving quotes in the paving stones of York Street.
The second, a young Victorian Lawyer, Statesman and hero of the people. A brilliant advocate, but remembered more as one of the greatest of all Constables of St Helier.
The third, an 11th Century poet, author to Kings and the source of two of the greatest and longest poems in history,
The fourth, the Historian of Jersey, a Rector, Statesman, Island benefactor, and the founder of our very first Library.
The fifth Hero of the 20th Century, the man who guided the Island through the trials of the German Occupation during World War II, and proved a constant thorn in the side of the Head of the Occupying forces;
And finally, we learn of a beautiful and feisty socialite, actress, and author. A women feted on two continents, loved by both a King and a Prince, but who died alone, with only her housekeeper by her side.
Uncover the stories of the sensational six – walk in their footsteps, and admire the world in which they lived, still visible in the hustle and bustle of modern-day St Helier.
Beaulieu Convent School proudly presents ANNIE KIDS.
Based on the popular comic strip, “Little Orphan Annie“, ANNIE KIDS tells of a feisty Depression-era orphan determined to find her parents, who left her years ago on the doorstep of a New York City orphanage run by the cruel Miss Hannigan. In adventure after fun-filled adventure, Annie foils Miss Hannigan’s evil machinations, befriends President Franklin Roosevelt and finds a new family in billionaire Oliver Warbucks, his personal secretary Grace Farrell and a lovable mutt named Sandy.

ACT presents a show for all the family (for once)!
While exploring their new surroundings, having moved to the countryside from London, five children discover something wonderous. In the bowels of an old gravel Quarry, they find a Psammead – a Sand Fairy: a magical – if slightly grumpy – creature, thousands of years old, with the power to grant them one wish a day.
They soon learn, however, that even the most innocent of wishes can have a sting in their tail if you don’t give them proper thought.

Hello just wanted to give you a quick heads up. The words in your article seem to be running off the screen in Internet explorer. I’m not sure if this is a formatting issue or something to do with web browser compatibility but I figured I’d post to let you know. The design and style look great though! Hope you get the issue solved soon. Cheers
