Hailing from the leafy suburbs of South West London is one of the UK’s best known electronic artists…Wilkinson. His first insight into making music came aged of 9 when his parents bought him a drum kit. Mark ‘Wilkinson’ joined a few bands playing at venues as far as the Birmingham NEC and as close as the local old people’s home. This swiftly ended at the age of 14 when Wilkinson discovered his passion for dance music. In his final year at college, he tried his hand at making beats, leading him to buy his first bits of production gear and turning his bed-room into a studio. A few years and part time jobs later, after driving his family mad with large amounts of bass loosening the brickwork of his house, Mark secured himself a studio not far from his home.
After fine-tuning his production skills, Wilkinson passed a few songs on to Hospital Records via Cyantific, which led to his first release on Hospital’s’ Sick Music 2 compilation. A few months later he sent a folder of tunes to Ram Records and within days received a phone call from Andy C inviting him for a meeting at the Ram HQ.
Fast forward a few years later and Wilkinson has cemented himself as one of the most successful stars in dance music. Following his club anthems ‘Tonight’, ‘Take You Higher’, ‘Too Close’ and countless others…Wilkinson released ‘Half Light’ charting #20, Dirty Love which peaked at #10, ‘Hopelessly Coping’ peaking at #23 on the UK Top 40 and ‘Afterglow’ which became a top 5 hit on the UK Chart, selling 1.2 million copies, racking up over 200 million streams and certified with a Platinum selling disc. To date he’s sold a mighty 3 million singles and been streamed over half a BILLION times!
His debut album ‘Lasers Not Included’ went to number 1 on the iTunes Dance Chart in 10 countries and his tour schedule takes him across the globe performing everywhere from Glastonbury,SW4,Reading & Leeds to EDC Las Vegas, his Ibiza residency at Amnesia and festivals from New York to New Zealand.
He’s gone on to build a fierce live reputation with his band over the last 5 years, selling out London’s Electric,The Forum and Roundhouse, and remarkably the iconic Brixton Academy twice! Not to mention headlining international festivals including Snowbombing, Pukkelpop and Sziget.
Having remixed and collaborated with the likes of Rag N Bone Man, The Prodigy,Ed Sheeran, Chase & Status,Wretch 32,Naughty Boy, Laura Mvula and Becky Hill, he’s scooped ‘Best Single’, ‘Best Album’, ‘Best Video’, ‘Best Producer’ and ‘Best Live Act’ at the National Drum & Bass Awards, not to mention the VEVO Viewers Award at the MVA’s.
His second, album ‘Hypnotic’ (released April 2017) became the most successful D&B album of the year, charting at #14 on the UK iTunes Album chart and became a top 20 iTunes Album across 6 countries, winning him an army of loyal supporters and some unlikely fans from the likes of Zane Lowe, Skrillex and even a certain Elton John!
2020 saw Wilkinson team up with fellow D&B titan Sub Focus to release their collaboration album ‘Portals’ via EMI. The record charted at #1 on the OCC Official Dance Chart and saw all three singles play listed by BBC Radio1. In fact, over recent years Wilkinson has remarkably been playlisted by BBC Radio1 14 times!

Join Cally Noel the Castle Minstrel who’ll tell you about Sir Amias Paulet who has been summoned from Mont Orgueil Castle to England by Queen Elizabeth I to deal with some very difficult tasks indeed! You can also hear about the Medieval herbal curers which were so important to the people of the Middle Ages, especially when plague and leprosy came to Jersey. Many of these plants still grow in the Castle garden today.
Come on a journey through spinning history and marvel at the ‘Drop Spindle’ in use from the Middle Ages. Listen to the click of the ‘Walking Wheel’ used from the 1300s, the handle-driven and beautifully wood turned Jersey Wheel, through to the whir of the ‘Tradle Wheel’. Watch as the Spinners of Hamptonne skillfully turn wool into yarn, to be used for one of the most important industries in the Channel Islands – the knitting industry. At times you may also meet the Hamptonne Knitter, who will be making garments from the Hamptonne yarn.
This circular walk begins at Longbeach car park, Grouville to take you on a time travelling adventure through Jersey History with spectacular views, especially on a clear day.
Wander through the medieval village of Gorey, and up to the headland of Mont St Nicholas, to find a hidden 6000 year old megalithic tomb and a 19th Century defensive tower.
Descend to the Castle, which was once the headquarters of an 18th Century spymaster and Prince, and on to the harbour.
The walk is in the most part a gentle ramble. Although it contains a flight of steep steps, it is possible to bypass these if necessary. Toilet facilities and refreshments available at the beginning and end of route.
A quintet of world-class soloists will join forces for this special evening of chamber music as part of Liberation International Music Festival.
Celebrating the 150th anniversary of composer and WWI Veteran Ralph Vaughan Williams’ birth, the programme features three Jersey premieres including the composer’s epic C Minor Piano Quintet, chamber music by Charles Stanford and Hubert Parry, and Schubert’s ever popular Trout Quintet.
The stellar line-up features international soloist Alexander Sitkovetsky; prize-winning pianist Wu Qian; Grammy-nominated violist Maxim Rysanov; international concert cellist and chamber musician Dora Kokas; and young star Will Duerden. Visiting artists will also work directly with young developing musicians in Jersey, delivering a series of masterclass and coaching opportunities.
A profound evening of chamber music in the beautifully lit setting of Battery Moltke will create an unforgettable commemoration as part of Liberation International Music Festival 2022.
Back for its second edition, the 13th Parish Festival returns with the best in independent international cinema – with short films, documentaries and features of all genres screening over the four days of the Festival.
Bringing an eclectic range of films to the JAC big screen, the Festival invites Jersey and her neighbours to join in the creativity. This year’s edition features several award winning films, fresh from their screenings at Sundance and SXSW, with a special focus on short film.
The Off-Courts Festival of Trouville team will present a week long filmmaking workshop, open to all. Join in this filmmaking endeavour – script, shoot and create your short film in a team environment, screening it on the final day of the Festival.
Keep an eye out for the full programme of Festival events – coming soon!
Meet the ‘Merry Monarch’ in the Governor’s House and listen to his Lordship recount fascinating stories of his time in Jersey.
It’s September 1649 and you are amidst the tumultuous events of the English Civil War. Having been exiled from his ‘dear England’, King Carles II and his younger brother, the Duke of York, have sought refuge in Jersey at Elizabeth Castle. Meet the ‘Merry Monarch’ in the Governor’s House and listen to his Lordship recount fascinating stories of his time in Jersey.
This walk will start at the town hall and will take us down to the Freedom Tree where we can consider Jersey’s 600m year journey from the South Pole, deltas, volcanoes and Ice Ages to the present day.
From here we will walk around the reclaimed land of the harbour area and up on to Pier Road with views over the town. We will then walk into town and spend some time looking at the variety of building stone used in St Helier, taking us on a journey from volcanoes to tropical islands and the Lake District. There may then be time for those who have not been to go in to the Jersey Aspiring Geopark exhibition on the ground floor of the museum.
Meet the Castle Gunner at Elizabeth Castle, every weekday from 11am to 3.30pm.
It’s the year 1781, just months after the legendary battle of Jersey. Gunner Gillman for the Royal Artillery Invalid Battalion, will captivate you with an account of the battle and tell you stories from the Castle’s dramatic past. But, be prepared to be drafted into the Midday Parade and witness the firing of the musket and cannon….it will be an experience to remember.
Meeting at the Jersey Cows in West’s Centre, St Helier, enjoy a meander through Victorian St Helier, to admire the architecture, and hear tales of town life through the Centuries.
Find out where the streets really are “paved” with gold, have a photograph with a Royal, discover the Penfold Post Box, find evidence of the musket shots from the Battle of Jersey, and uncover the secret hidden within the paving of our Place du Marché. There is so much to discover, so join Kary and allow her to reveal our town’s hidden treasures.
The Town Walk takes place on Thursdays at 4 p.m. from West’s Centre. Booking in advance is required.

An exhibition that explores how the right to protest has shaped and influenced the Island that we know today.
‘People! Power! Protest!’ explores the story of protest in Jersey, from the Corn Riots of 1769 to the Black Lives Matter movement of 2020.
Jersey may be small but Islanders have made their voices heard loud and clear over the years. Jersey has a fascinating history of protest in the Island and the theme of the exhibition coincides with the 250th anniversary of the Code of Laws that was introduced in response to the Corn Riots.
The exhibition explores how the right to protest has shaped and influenced the Island that we know today, from historic protests, such as the Corn Riots, to more recent protests such as Extinction Rebellion and Black Lives Matter.
Among the items on display is the official 18th century court records showing the redacted demands of the Corn Riots protestors, and the petition signed by thousands of people to try and save Queen’s Valley from being flooded in the 1980s. There are also the banners and placards from other protests over the years and photographs of significant post-war campaigns and demonstrations.
As you enter the exhibition ‘People! Power! Protest!’, you’ll see a stunning graffiti-style entrance wall by designer James Carter, of Midnight Industries. Celebrated local artist Ian Rolls has also created a new version of his iconic climate stripes mural in the environmental protest section of the exhibition. Visitors can to listen to stories of protest and share their own memories of their involvement in campaigns and demonstrations over the years.

Wednesdays from May to September at Mont Orgueil Castle
10am to 4pm
With Eleonore’s virtual tour of Versailles, discover fascinating anecdotes and get ready to meet the Sun King, while your living room gets transformed into the Galerie des Glaces. Put your earphones on and be ready to plunge into French History!
As a French storyteller, tour guide, stage director and a little bit of a clown, Eleonore Nicolas loves bringing history to life. Her imagination and love for words inspire her to conceive guided tours like spectacles, and make French heritage accessible to all.
This event will take place on Zoom (details of the meeting will be sent to you by email before the event)

When country folk came to town, in days gone by, where would they meet up? In the market, of course.
Any town of reasonable size and even some of very little size would have a market.
Come and check out St. Helier’s markets, past and present. Some have come and gone but others have stayed the course. Each was different but they had one thing in common. Town and country mingled together. Some markets had other uses. What were they?

St Peter’s Valley is one of the best woodlands to enjoy a variety of beautiful wild flowers. As we meander through the valley, we will find some places of historical interest but I can only assure you that you will discover something you haven’t seen before.
Distance: approximately 6 miles
Transport: Bus 8. Please note that in winter there is no bus who can take you there, so you will need to arrange alternative transport

The minute you start this walk you will be enchanted by the wooded valley. But which one is better? St Lawrence or St. Peter’s. Did you know that St. Peter’s contains a rich diversity of plant and tree species which in turn provide shelter for butterflies, woodland insects and many mammals?
St Peter’s Valley is one of the best woodlands to enjoy a variety of beautiful wild flowers. As we meander through the valley, we will find some places of historical interest but I can only assure you that you will discover something you haven’t seen before.

Thanks to sponsorhip from Mourant a creative workshop was held for the students in October 2021 with artist Eliza Anna Reine and art teacher Jacque Rutter
The ‘winners’ creations are published on the main pages of the book but all the students who took part have been included
The inspiring women include: Frances Le Sueur, Louisa Gould, Anne Perchard, Elinor Glyn and Caroline Trachy.
Mondays and Tuesdays from May to September at La Hougue Bie
10am to 4pm

As Viscount of Jersey during the English Civil War, 1642 – 1651, it was Laurens Hamptonne’s duty to make some of the most important public announcements of the time. When not at work int he Royal Count, Laurens enjoys entertaining visitors in his beautiful country home with stories of a time when Jersey was in the eye of the story, as Royalists and Parliamentarians crashed together on the shores of the Channel Islands. ,
Come along and join the race for an afternoon of comedy! Set in the early 20th Century, two rival daredevils, the heroic Great Leslie (Tony Curtis) and the despicable Professor Fate (Jack Lemmon), take part in an epic automobile race from New York to Paris. Also starring Natalie Wood, watch out for the fantastical “pie fight” scene too!
