    WW2 Bunkers Tour

    Join Jersey War Tours and visit WW2 bunkers, which are not usually open to the public.

    JWT will show you how Jersey was made into an impregnable fortress and help you appreciate what the Third Reich was able to create with slave labour.

    The tour is also a perfect complement to understanding the history of the D-Day invasion, which took place less than 30 miles away.

    Wool Spinners Of Hamptonne

    Watch the ladies of Hamptonne use the Jersey spindle wheel to create local textile crafts.

    Every Sunday, Monday and Tuesday / 10am to 4pm

    Within the atmospheric setting of Langlois House, seen as it may have appeared in 1770, the ladies of Hamptonne will demonstrate wool spinning on the Jersey spindle wheel as spin the finest quality Jersey 3-ply yarn, used in the creation of Jersey stockings.

    Learn about the rise and fall of the Jersey stocking knitting industry and of its significance in the Island’s history.

    Come along to the Wetland Centre for an up-close encounter with some local birds of prey.

    Jo and Gill from the Jersey Falconry Club will be in the main room with some special guests for you to meet. Learn about how they live and hunt in the wild and ask any questions you have about our local raptors.

    Use binoculars to watch wild birds of prey from the viewing areas and enjoy owl pellet dissection with our Education Officer.

    Free for NTJ Members – £5 for non-members – children to be accompanied by an adult (tickets only required for child attendees).

    To support our conservation work, and take part in many exciting events, please consider becoming a member. Family memberships are available from only £45 a year.

    Orchid Walk – Wildflowers and Folklore #LoveNature Festival

    Beauties and masters of deception they have a fascinating life cycle as well as having been used as food and in love potions! Do you want to know more about our wild native orchids growing in The National Trusts Noir Pre meadow? Join Tina Hull and learn to recognise the Jersey Loose-flowered Orchid and other orchids growing there along with plenty of other plants and wildflowers. Uneven and possibly wet ground.

    Meander Around the Orchid Fields #LoveNature Festival

    Experience a riot of colour at Le Noir Pré, our orchid meadows, which will be in full bloom.

    There are three species of orchids found growing in Le Noir Pré; the Southern Marsh Orchid, Jersey Orchid and the Spotted Orchid. Orchid counts take place every two years and since 2000 numbers have increased from 5,975 to 49,200 – soon to be re surveyed again this year. As well as orchids there are 80 other flowering plants in the meadows and a wide diversity of insects, reptiles, mammals and birds.

    Please park in car parks in the vicinity. Bus No 22. No need to book just come along.
