    Keep Drawing: Still Life

    10:00 am-4:00 pm
    2022.07.02

…but not as you know it. The installation will offer you a myriad of possibilities and will allow you to take the whole idea of still life to a different level. Tableaus will be set up for you to experiment with and enjoy. Expect to be challenged creatively and encouraged to look at things in a whole new light! It’s going to be Cornelia Parker meets the Cubists with a little Morandi for stillness. Everyone needs a little stillness. Materials will be provided but any additional items welcome!

Keep Drawing is a series of art school style workshops with local artist Lisa MacDonald to get those juices flowing, that art muscle flexing and that creativity humming. Join in for a single session or sign up for both!

Participants will explore inventive and imaginative drawing projects in an art studio setting for exploration and serious study. An amazing and unexpected still life or installation will be set up for each workshop as a starting point for creativity. It’s going to push you and it might get messy, but rest assured you will absolutely love it!

Towers Tides and Turnstones – Uncovering Grouville with Roger Noel

    2:00 pm-4:00 pm
    2022.07.02

Join Roger Noel on a fascinating exploration of the South-East corner of Jersey, from coastline to country lanes and back again.

This circular walk begins at La Rocque Harbour where you can hear about the fascinating history of this harbour and former fishing port.  See where the invading French troops landed on a cold winter’s night of 5th January 1781, and learn of the 18th and 20th century fortifications that now protect this area of coastline, which is also a designated area of special interest, and protected Ramsar site.

From La Rocque you wander inland, venturing into the countryside, to enjoy fantastic views, catch glimpses of visiting and local birdlife, and hear a little of our agriculture and oyster farming industries.

The walk returns full circle, through the country lanes, following the route of the old Jersey Eastern Railway, and heads back to the beach, for a final stroll along the shoreline returning to La Rocque Harbour.

This gentle stroll, which encounters no hills and just a few steps, will take approximately three hours, with a chance of a well earned refreshment at the end.

Pre-book by telephoning Roger on 07797 824721 or email Roger at [email protected]

    Cost £15 per person

Meet at the Telephone Box at La Rocque Harbour.
